Dialectica: Far From Home, Right Where He Belongs

Syed Ahmed will tell you that Dialectica is not what it looks like from the outside.
Originally from Bangladesh, he joined the Montreal office in late 2024 as part of the Client Service Team, and somewhere between the first training session and his first hard-to-find expert, something shifted. Today he manages a team of his own. And he still treats every single person on it like family.
What did you think Dialectica was before you joined?
Honestly, I did not fully understand what Dialectica did until I was already inside it. What I found was a company connecting the world's leading consulting and investment firms with the kind of expertise that does not show up in any report or database.
That matters more than ever right now. AI has made information abundant but insight scarce. A Google search gives you data. Dialectica gives you the hard-to-find profile who has lived it. Being part of that, every single day, is what makes this role meaningful.
What changed when you became a Manager?
The biggest shift was realizing that my success is no longer fully in my own hands. It is largely determined by how my associates perform. That is a humbling thing to sit with at first.
But it is also the most rewarding part. Watching people start from the same place I did, facing the same hurdles, and guiding them through is a wonderful experience. Seeing them grow into capable professionals and knowing you played a real part in that is something no commission can replicate.
The relationship with clients changes too. I have my clients on text. We touch base outside of projects, talk about things beyond profiles and credits. They become people, not accounts. That personal connection has allowed me to get projects in advance and secure greater participation. Better wins for my team, better growth for my associates.
The job title changes. But what drives you forward becomes something bigger than yourself.
What is your favorite part about working at Dialectica?
Definitely the people. I treat my colleagues like my family. Most of us are far from home. But we treat Dialectica as our safe refuge.
Home, as Syed will tell you, is rarely where you started. It is where you decide to belong, and who you decide to build it with.
