Pablo Romero: The Quiet Optimizer Behind Dialectica's Back Office

Pablo Romero has a peculiar definition of doing his job well. If the operational team never has to think about back office processes, he considers that a win.
Pablo is a Financial Accounting Senior Associate who has been with Dialectica for a bit more than three years. At the last All Hands, he was recognized as a Growth Mindset value ambassador, a reminder that the culture behind Dialectica's Great Place to Work certification runs through every department.
Here is how Pablo's constant drive to learn and improve has shaped his three years at Dialectica, certified as a Great Place to Work.
You're known for treating every day as a chance to learn something new. What does that drive look like for you day to day?
Every single day brings something new. Whenever I come across something I am unfamiliar with or curious about, I feel the need to ask, whether it's my manager, my teammates, or searching for it online. Dialectica is not a traditional company. It has so many unique aspects that push me to learn new things every day.
You work in Financial Accounting. What does having a Growth Mindset look like in a role like yours?
My goal is almost to be invisible to the operational team. If they don't have to worry about back office processes, it means I am doing my job well and keeping distractions at bay. For me, Growth Mindset in this role means continuously finding ways to make their lives easier so they can focus on driving the business forward.
You have a habit of improving things even when they already work. Can you share an example of something you optimized, even when it wasn't strictly necessary?
There are always opportunities for improvement, and at Dialectica, there is never a shortage of new things to build. I have continuously focused on developing clear processes to guide employees through various requests. We streamlined the process for requesting team bonding budgets, simplified the steps for securing travel insurance, and optimized how corporate travel cards are requested. None of these were broken, but optimizing them created a smoother experience for everyone.
You've been at Dialectica for a bit more than three years. How has your role or the way you approach it evolved over that time?
When I first started, we were a small team of three, and the tasks were fairly straightforward. As the company grew, the workload expanded and became more complex. Today, our team has grown to over ten people. I now directly manage two team members who handle the core responsibilities I covered three years ago, which has given me the opportunity to hone my leadership skills while freeing up capacity to focus on higher level strategic challenges.

Scalability and efficiency are a big part of how you think about work. What does "thinking about the future" actually mean in a finance and accounting context?
It's twofold. It's about guaranteeing seamless business operations and providing top tier, timely data to executive leadership. Giving leaders reliable information empowers them to make the strategic decisions that maintain our financial strength and support scaled, efficient growth.
What is the "secret ingredient" that makes Dialectica Colombia a Great Place to Work?
What has given flavor to my three years at Dialectica comes down to two things: the collaboration within my team and the daily challenges. There is genuine support and a real commitment to everyone's personal and professional growth. Every single day brings something new, constantly reminding us that there is always room to get even better.
What is your #1 piece of advice for a new Dialectican or prospective candidate?
Stay curious and never be afraid to ask questions. Dialectica is a dynamic, fast paced environment where no two days are the same, and that's where the real learning happens. Embrace the fact that you won't know everything on day one, lean on your team for support, and view every challenge as an opportunity to build something better than how you found it.
Ready to build something better?
Pablo's story is proof that growth mindset shows up in every corner of the business, from the smallest process to the biggest strategic decision. If you're ready to bring that same curiosity to work, we want to hear from you.
