When opportunity knocks at Dialectica, it often comes in the form of a challenge. For Natalia Fetecua, it arrived as a two‑month mission on the other side of the world. After rising from intern to Senior Associate in the Bogotá office, she was selected for the Mobility Program, an initiative designed to accelerate growth, strengthen global collaboration, and empower high‑performing talent to make an impact beyond their home market.

Her assignment was ambitious: support demand generation for one of Dialectica’s key Indian accounts and help train new joiners in our Ho Chi Minh City office. What followed was a journey filled with cultural discovery, professional stretch moments, and the kind of personal growth that only comes from stepping far outside your comfort zone.

This is Natalia’s story, in her own words.

Looking back at your journey from intern to Senior Associate, what do you think prepared you the most for being selected for the Mobility Program?

My mindset of always being ready to help and mentor others, along with the trust I built by asking questions and learning from colleagues, prepared me the most. Understanding the company’s operations and balancing project management with my own responsibilities also played a key role.

When you first learned you’d be sent to Ho Chi Minh City, what went through your mind and how did you prepare?

I had only two weeks to prepare, which felt rushed — but that’s part of our dynamic environment. I was excited about living in a new country and exploring Vietnam on my own. I’d heard amazing things about the food, culture, and travel opportunities, so the idea of discovering new places every weekend was incredibly motivating.

To get ready, I reached out to my manager and the account leads. Many had traveled to Asia and shared helpful tips and encouragement. Their support made a huge difference.

What were the biggest cultural differences between the Bogotá and Ho Chi Minh City offices?

The pace of work stood out the most. Bogotá moves fast, while Ho Chi Minh City operates at a more steady, deliberate rhythm. This pushed me to be more creative in our commercial approach and in the way we communicated with clients.

The Vietnamese team was also quieter than the very talkative Colombians, which created a different style of collaboration. And I was fascinated by the tradition of taking a nap during lunch — it genuinely seemed to refresh everyone. Experiencing local traditions and celebrations broadened my perspective and made me more open‑minded.

Which part of the mission challenged you the most, and what did you learn from it?

Demand generation was the biggest challenge, especially with the client in India, which operates at a slower pace and with tighter budgets. I had to be more creative and adaptable. For example, while email is standard in Bogotá, WhatsApp is the main communication channel in India, so we shifted our approach accordingly. Sometimes clients would respond only at the end of the day, requiring quick coordination. These experiences strengthened my adaptability and problem‑solving skills.

How did working with a new manager in Vietnam shape your understanding of cross‑regional teamwork?

Working with someone from a different cultural background gave me a fresh perspective. I learned new tactics tailored to the local environment, like using WhatsApp for faster communication and focusing on individual associates’ daily tasks instead of one large meeting. This helped us understand projects more quickly and avoid misunderstandings. It reinforced how important it is to adapt to different client expectations and working styles.

What accomplishment from your two months in Ho Chi Minh City are you most proud of?

I’m proud of the impact I had on the team. Even in a short time, I felt I made a difference. My colleagues appreciated my support, and I believe I shared lessons that will help them as they begin their careers.

How has this experience influenced your long‑term ambitions at Dialectica?

It was transformative. It pushed me to grow, adapt, and see things from a new perspective. It also showed me that age doesn’t matter here — what matters is hard work and dedication. That motivates me to keep building my career at Dialectica.

What advice would you give to others who are excited by the idea of joining the Mobility Program?

If you get the chance, take it. I always dreamed of living abroad, and even though it was brief, it helped me grow personally and professionally. Managing life alone, handling business, and meeting new people was incredibly fulfilling. I would do it all over again.

Natalia’s experience is a powerful reminder of what happens when curiosity meets courage. In just two months, she strengthened a key regional account, supported a growing team, and embraced a completely different culture, proving that leadership is defined by mindset, not tenure. Her journey reflects the spirit of Dialectica’s Mobility Program: bold moves, global collaboration, and accelerated growth. And as she returns to Bogotá with new skills and new ambitions, one thing is clear — this is only the beginning.

For anyone dreaming of taking their career beyond borders, Natalia’s message is simple: say yes, pack your bags, and let the world shape you.
