Move, Grow, and Lead: Why I left Athens to help build Dialectica’s next chapter in Thessaloniki

“The easiest decision would have been to stay where I already felt comfortable. Instead, I packed my life into boxes and started over.”
When I joined Dialectica during my final semester at university, I wasn’t thinking five years ahead. Like most graduates, I was simply looking for a place where I could learn, be challenged and build my career.
Five years later, I found myself facing a completely different decision.
After spending my entire career in our Athens office, I had the opportunity to relocate to Thessaloniki and help lead one of Dialectica’s fastest-growing teams. Professionally, it was exciting. Personally, it meant starting almost from scratch.
Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made.
Building something, not just joining it
What attracted me wasn’t simply moving to another office.
It was the opportunity to contribute to something that was still taking shape.
Thessaloniki has a startup-ish energy. The office is growing quickly, people are stepping into new responsibilities and you can genuinely feel that everyone’s contribution has an impact. In a growing environment, progress is visible. Ideas move faster, collaboration feels more immediate and every success becomes something the whole team celebrates.
That was exactly the kind of challenge I was looking for.

Starting over is uncomfortable. That’s why it’s worth it.
Relocating is much bigger than changing your office location.
You’re building new routines, creating a new social circle and finding your place in a different city, all while taking on a new leadership role.
Of course there were moments that felt unfamiliar, but growth usually starts there.
One thing that made the transition much easier was the people. From day one, the team made me feel part of something. Everyone was willing to help, share advice and genuinely wanted each other to succeed. That kind of environment makes a huge difference when you’re starting over.
Thessaloniki: A city that’s building momentum
One of the things that surprised me most was how much momentum Thessaloniki has today.
There is incredible talent here, coming from universities across Northern Greece, and you can feel more and more ambitious people choosing to stay in the city and build their careers locally.
That’s exciting because it means we’re not simply growing a team.
We’re helping build a stronger professional community.

Writing our own story
The Thessaloniki office is still writing its story and that’s exactly what makes it exciting.
Over the next few years, I want to help build an environment where talented people can grow quickly, take ownership early and develop meaningful careers. We already have an incredible team with huge potential and I’m excited to see what we’ll build together as the office continues to grow.
If moving to Thessaloniki has taught me anything, it’s that sometimes the biggest career opportunities begin with a simple decision to try something new.
